Bookshelf 2.0 for Blackberry

Introduction

This application makes our Bookshelf efforts available on Blackberry devices. Click here to learn more about Bookshelf in general.

Supported Platforms

This version of Bookshelf runs on Blackberry devices with OS 4.5 or newer; it requires an SD card to store books.

If your device is not a blackberry, Click here to find out if it supports Bookshelf.

Previous Versions

If you had a previous version of Bookshelf, we recommend removing it before installing this one.

Version 2.0 no longer has the frequent warnings of previous versions; so if you had your firewall enabled to allow overriding warnings, you may as well disable it again.

Some of the changes in 2.0

- The annoying warnings are gone
- Possible to set up without data connectivity
- Option to install content using WiFi only
- Minimize initial downloads by choosing to stream content on demand. (requires constant data connectivity)
- More books
- Books have better indexing and categorizing options
- Enables new types of content, like audio samples

Compatibility

We tested this application on Curve, Tour, Bold and Storm Blackberry models.

OTA Installation

For all devices with Blackberry OS 5.0.0 or newer: Install Bookshelf OTA. If you have OS 5.0 OR a touchscreen, this is your best option.

For Blackberry OS 4.5.0 or newer (no touchscreen):Install Bookshelf OTA. This is provided for older non-touchscreen devices but should run equally well on most blackberry devices with a thumb board.

Installation with Desktop Manager

Download this file and extract its contents. Then connect your device and use the Desktop Manager's Application Loader to install the BlackberryBookshelf.alx file
